There are many talented people in the world that do amazing things every day. One such person is James Harris from Chesterfield Virginia. A father, U.S veteran, and prominent serial entrepreneur in the Richmond area, James Harris has had a long worthwhile career. Yet, he still manages to help people in every way he can. He is also a member of the Chi Sigma Iota / SUR chapter honor society, Virginia Counselor Association, and a National Alliance on Mental Illness-Central Virginia (NAMI-CVA) board member.
Mr. Harris is a Licensed Mental Health Professional (LMHP) with a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. He has experience working with families and people of all ages, from children to adults. He is exceptionally skilled in mood disorders, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, ADHD, oppositional defiant disorder, conduct disorder, trauma, non-suicidal self-harm, and many other areas in mental health. Today, James uses his skills and experience with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and psychoeducation to help his clients improve their mental health.
Mr. Harris founded the “Men to Heal” movement to help men focus on overall wellness and to inspire men to take better care of their physical and mental health, communicate effectively and get to know themselves better. Men to Heal offers sessions via skype across the world. Men to Heal has been a success with many professional athletes and celebrities showing their support on their social media platforms.
Outside of Men to Heal and private practice, James Harris still has a strong sense of leadership and service. He volunteers often in church and is an avid community volunteer as well. In 2019, Mr. Harris founded The HEAling Hub in the heart of Richmond where people can participate in yoga, mindfulness, outpatient therapy, credit seminars and drives that are held for the less fortunate.
This year, James Harris published his book Man Just Express Yourself, an interactive journal for boys and men who may find it hard to express themselves in a healthy way and help them gain accountability in their lives. It is available at Amazon, Barnes and Nobles, Walmart, Target and his website www.mentoheal.com.
Mr. Harris’s advice to readers is “live and be your authentic self, ignore the perception of others, and do it your way. Believe in you, more than you believe in their thoughts of you. You are your only limit.”
